1) 3:45 PM
Greet Your Guide Infront of Parliament Building
Parking is usually available within this area, example opposite Parliament Building. Our friendly guide will greet you in front of Parliament Building where you'll be guided to Stabroek Market Wharf.
2) 4:00 PM
Depart Stabroek Wharf
You'll be boarding a local-style ferry, which will first take us up the right bank of the Demerara River. As we cruise along, you’ll have the chance to observe the shifting landscape—from bustling river life to more tranquil, scenic views.
We’ll gradually make our way towards the iconic New Demerara Harbour Bridge, taking in the sights and atmosphere along the way.
3) 4:30 PM
Demerara Harbour Bridge (Old & New)
For decades, thousands crossed the Demerara Harbour Bridge every single day—yet very few ever passed beneath it. Today, you’ll join that rare group as we glide below the retired structure and view it from a vantage point many will never experience.
This once-floating engineering marvel stretches approximately 6,562 feet (2.0 KM) and rested on about 114 pontoons, earning recognition as one of the longest bridges of its type in the world. It linked communities, fueled commerce, and shaped modern life along the Demerara River.
Now, just ahead, you’ll see its successor: the New Demerara Harbour Bridge—fully completed and now proudly carrying the flow of modern Guyana. Sleek, strong, and built for the future, it represents a new chapter in national development.
As the old bridge awaits removal, this cruise becomes more than a sightseeing experience—it’s a moment in time where history and progress stand side by side, offering us one final chance to appreciate where we’ve been and where we’re heading.
4) 5:00 PM - 6:15 PM
Arrival At The Birds Roosting Area & Wait For The Sunset
Get ready to witness a natural spectacle that few ever get to see. As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, literally hundreds of birds will begin their graceful return to roost along a quiet, little-known spot on the Demerara River.
This hidden gem serves as an evening sanctuary for several bird species, including the striking Scarlet Ibis (Trinidad’s national bird), Western Cattle Egret, Great Egret, Snail Kite, Neotropic Cormorant, and many others. Watching them soar in and settle for the night is a breathtaking experience that connects you with nature in the purest way.
At this special point in the cruise, we’ll shut off the engines, drop anchor, and simply take it all in. With the river still and the birds filling the sky, it’s the perfect moment to relax, reflect, and engage in easy, meaningful conversation as the sky turns to gold and dusk wraps around us.
Choose your drink or alcohol of choice, and enjoy it alongside our snacks provided—it’s the ideal vibe for unwinding. And of course, don’t forget to snap a few photos and videos—you’ll want to relive this moment again and again.
5) 6:15 PM
Head Back To Stabroek Wharf
We’ll now make our way up the left bank of the Demerara River, heading back to Stabroek Wharf, where our tour comes to a close.
As we return, take in the twinkling lights and lively evening activity along the waterfront. From fishing boats to vessels supporting the oil and gas industry, the wharf transforms at night into a bustling scene—offering a unique glimpse into the rhythm of Georgetown after dark.
6) 6:38 PM
Arrive at Stabroek Wharf
This brings our sunset journey on the Demerara River to an end.
